Then they will hand you over to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. And at that time many will fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will rise up and mislead many people. And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will become cold. But the one who endures to the end is the one who will be saved. This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24: 9-14)

The passage tells us what will happen in the end times: tribulation and hatred toward true Christians. False prophets and false teachings about God will become rampant, leading to lawlessness. People will care only about themselves and become unwilling to help others.

Many so-called Christians believe that they can make the world Christian. They follow Christian leaders who have fame and wealth. These leaders receive the spotlight and the praise of many. They influence people in politics. The United States, among all nations with a strong Christian heritage, has often been praised for guarding the faith and evangelising unbelievers. However, much of its Christianity is based on doctrines that originated in England and are false. Christianity has shifted its focus from truth to people. Many join a church for a sense of community rather than for the truth. A nation once regarded as a great Christian country is now declining rapidly while holding firmly to the false doctrines it has long preached. Christianity has shifted from Sola Gratia to a merit-based understanding of salvation. I see the root of this corruption in the doctrine of the Active Obedience of Christ.

People do not care about the truth. They want to gain something beneficial from joining a church community. Many attend Bible studies with little or no understanding, although it is not their fault that they cannot understand the Word of God. If God does not open their eyes, they cannot see. God has appointed only certain people to receive the Holy Spirit; therefore, others remain spiritually blind. The problem arises when false Christians become leaders within their church communities, spreading and even teaching false doctrines. As a result, true Christians endure tribulation and mockery. These false Christians do not necessarily live immoral lives. Some may even appear more generous and kind-hearted than others.

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these. For among them are those who slip into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, worthless in regard to the faith. But they will not make further progress; for their foolishness will be obvious to all, just as was that also of Jannes and Jambres. (2 Timothy 3: 1-9)

God calls us to be lovers of the truth rather than followers of other people. The end may not come for another thousand years. Therefore, maintain a positive attitude in every circumstance. Do not curse anyone. Remain neutral toward the events unfolding around you. Keep your mind focused on the hope we have, knowing that God will fulfill all His promises.

For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished! (Matthew 5:18)
